The Need to Be Wanted

#120 – The Need To Be Wanted

The Need to Be Wanted

When we were young, we often felt the need to belong and be accepted. The feeling of being unwanted is a hurtful experience. Many people who feel unwanted as a child perceived this as a traumatic event in their lives, which often leads to developing an unhealthy habit that also leads to addiction, such as porn addiction. People engage in this harmful habit because it comforts them and gives them a sense of belonging in some ways. We are social beings, and it is natural for us to want to belong. It is important that we feel wanted as it has a huge impact on us and how we view life, as well as giving us the powerful feeling of being chosen. After all, we are social beings, hence the need to relate, commence, and interact.

We do things, and we even change ourselves, to make people want us. Some people do bad things even though they don’t want to because they have a strong need to be wanted. What we don’t realize is that we are only damaging ourselves when, in fact, we don’t have to do anything to be wanted by others; God, the ultimate source of unconditional love, is simply waiting for us to allow ourselves to be wanted by Him, and that is the most powerful feeling we can ever feel in our lifetime.

Whenever we feel unwanted, we can always reach out and open up to someone. Instead of focusing on this bad emotion, let us remember that we can always turn to God.

In this episode, Andrew and Benjy Andrew and Benjy talk about our need to be wanted, the powerful feeling it brings us, and why we should allow ourselves to feel wanted by God. They also discuss the importance of having genuine inner peace and having a reciprocal relationship with God.

Single people should understand that the need to be wanted is a necessity and that they should not deprive themselves of something so fundamental in their lives. Spend time with people who make you feel loved and validated. Married couples, on the other hand, should work together to find ways to meet each other’s needs and ensure that their partner is never neglected.
